All Pink Everything For Day 1 At NYFW

There’s something electric about being in the city, especially during New York Fashion Week. This is my second season attending the shows and the difference between this year and last year blows me away. Last year, I went in bright-eyed and bushy-tailed; solo, shy and clueless. This year, I was prepared but still knew I had so much to learn; eager, confident and centered. Another beautiful thing about this year is I had so many blogger friends attending that I was excited to connect and collaborate with (a whole post dedicated to community is in the works and coming soon). I landed in NYC on Friday morning after a long red eye flight from Los Angeles and believe it or not, I felt great. I got a few hours of sleep on the flight, grabbed a latte in the city and got ready for my first day at the shows with this head-to-toe pink look.

First on the agenda was meeting up with this darling! Vanessa from What Would V Wear has always felt like an old friend, even though we’ve only ever connected through our blogs and Instagram. When we finally saw each other on the street, it was like reconnecting with a childhood buddy you hadn’t seen in years but could pick right back up with. That’s something I love about the blogging community. When you find people who think like you and understand that we’re all on the same team, that’s when the magic happens. You connect and get to experience a new friendship that would have never happened had you not taken the first step towards your goals.

I also met so many amazing new people this NYFW. Being open to collaborating and connecting with new people can introduce you to a world of opportunities. After deciding to take a break from my fabulous (yet painful-on-New-York-concrete) heels at the Dream Hotel Downtown, I ran into Farhat who graciously offered to take some photos of me in my look. Not only is she so sweet and generous but her photos are amazing and I can’t wait to work together again the next time I’m in the city.

When I was putting together my looks for NYFW, I knew I wanted to take a stab at the monochromatic trend. I threw around colors in my head but when I saw these Alice + Olivia trousers, I knew pink would be the winner. These pants have everything I love in one simple, yet statement-making, piece. The high waist, the wide leg, the side slit – I’m obsessed. (For sizing, I ordered these in a size 4 but needed to have them taken in and hemmed. Probably could have gotten away with a size 2 but would have definitely needed them hemmed either way.) Finding the right complementary pieces to complete the look would be the next challenge.

Everything I’ve read for mastering the monochromatic trend states to find colors that blend but don’t match. Too matchy and it’s a bust. Blend to perfection and it’s a win. I found this Club Monaco top and was in love with the blush pink tone and small ruffles on the sleeves. I matched the lighter pink color of the top with these amazing heels from Tony Bianco. How hot is the crystal heel? I completed my look with these hot pink pom-pom earrings from Baublebar (they are so light) and Fancy AF clutch from Milly (has one clutch ever summed up a feeling so accurately?). I debated on finding pink sunnies but felt a more neutral option would balance the outfit out. I put it all together and was stoked at the results.

What do you think of the monochromatic trend? I’m still working on my coverage from NYFW – have so much to share with you! Make sure to check back and let me know if there’s anything in particular you want to see more of!
